Chintammit KSL Group was originally founded as Kwang Soon Lee Co., Ltd in 1945 by three Chinese-Thai businessmen, Tow Kok Jor, Ung Sieng Soong, and Chuan Chinthammit who became KSL’s first Managing Director. The first office and factory of the company were both located at Rama 1 Road, Bangkok. The primary capability was to produce plantation white sugar from sugarcane syrup and coconut-palm sugar. The business grew and flourished and a new sugar factory, Ang Vieng Industry Co. Ltd., was set up and became the first sugar factory to use modern technology to produce granulated sugar directly from fresh sugarcane juice. Several sugar factories soon followed. In 1974, Mrs. Nantha Chinthammit and Mr. Chavalit Chinthammit were appointed first chairperson and managing director respectively. Presently, the KSL Group has sugar affiliates and factories in Eastern, Western, and Northeastern Regions of Thailand. The Group also diversified into seasoning products and chinaware. These are the Thai Fermentation Industry Co., Ltd, the largest exporter of seasoning products in Thailand, and the Chengteh Chinaware Co., Ltd., which is a world-class producer and exporter of ceramic giftwares.
