Prajogo Pangestu

Kimun Ongkosandjojo Prajogo Pangestu is another Indonesian billionaire whose fortune came from timber or wood. Pangestu and family control PT Barito Pacific Group formerly known as PT Barito Pacific Timber, once the world’s largest producer of tropical hardwood plywood.

Pangestu is the son of a west Kalimantan ethnic Chinese rubber tapper. He started his career in 1965.

PT Barito Pacific Group is an offspring of CV Pacific Lumber which was established by Pangestu, also known as Pang Djun Phen, in 1979 in Banajramasin, South Kalimantan. Its principal activity includes the manufacturing of wood-based products such as plywood, black boards, doors, furniture parts, and panels. The Group exports its products to Japan, Middle East, the United States and Europe.

In addition, The Group has 17 subsidiaries which are engaged in petrochemical, timber manufacturing and plantation, glue, and mining.
