Sitorus Sitorus began trading shrimp and other marine products in 1978 before switching to palm oil. He obtained a degree in Economics from HKBP Nomensen University in Medan, Indonesia. He bought his first plantation in 1994 and later co-founded Wilmar International with the nephew of Robert Kuok of Malaysia, Kuok Khoon Hong. Wilmar International Limited business activities include oil palm cultivation, edible oils refining, oilseeds crushing, consumer packs edible oils processing and merchandising, specialty fats, oleochemicals and biodiesel manufacturing, and grains processing and merchandising.
